The three best tunes from Carmen including 'Toreador's Song'. Bizet's famous opera 'Carmen' was controversial when it was first performed in Paris in 1875. It is a tale of lawlessness, murder and immorality. The naive soldier Don José is seduced by the fiery gypsy Carmen, and deserts from the army, only to see Carmen desert him for the glamorous toreador Escamillo. Bizet died suddenly soon after the first 'luke warm' run of performances. Little did he know it would become acclaimed world wide for the next 130 years! The optional companion CD allows for each movement to be practised separately, (and slowly) before putting the whole thing together - ideally in the company of another human!.
